
On 30th – 31st Nov 2010, the Dhamma Study Tour was organized by Mahapanya Vidayalai with the collaboration of Mahachulalongkornrajavidayalaya Univerisity, Wang Noi, Ayudhaya. The tour was organized for two days with 52 participants from MCU, Mahapanya and Prince of Songkhla University. 11 monks from MCU were invited to join this activity.
As tour schedule attached here, the tour began from Mahapanya Vidayalai at 5.30 am to Karbi. Good weather and good talk, breakfast was eaten in Trang Province. At 11.30, Vegetarian lunch was prepared by a family in Karbi. At 15.00 by water way the trip reached to Kho Jam Island. Overnight lodging was organized at Wat.
The actual activity began at 16.00 with Lamas’ chanting. According to their tradition different kinds of offering ceremonies were taken place. Lama P. Gyelsthen explained the overview of the ceremony and ended it at 17.30.
At 18.00 representing MCU, Phra. Surasak Dhammadejo leaded the evening chanting with all participants followed by the talk on ‘the purpose of Dhamma Study Tour’ by Phra. Sonam Lepcha and Phra. Deepan Chettri.
As the purpose of Dhamma study tour, At 19.30, after a short break, the team was divided into three groups. As headed by Lama P. Gyeltshen and Lama C. Rangdrol 10 students were selected to study the current situation of Buddhism on the island. Dr. Preeya and Ms. Urairat were chosen for group supervisor on Health Care and Phra. Sonam and Phra. Deepan Chetteri was assigned to study about the environment on the island.
At 20.00, after the division of group member, some questions (on Buddhist topic) were asked to Phra. Sonam. This section didn’t last for long time as it use routine on island to cut the electric after 21.00 PM.
Sunday morning began at 5.30 am with morning chanting and walking meditation. 52 participants walked about 5 kilometers on the forest and sea shore.
