In the especial occasion of Chinese New Year, Sangha members from Mahapanya Vidayalai were invited to give a Dhamma talk and to participate their religious activities in Wat Siribunyamaggarama,Tambun, Ipho, Malaysia on 22nd Jan 2012. That was one of the interesting tour where we staffs and the students from MPV were able to provide ours self interest and theirs wishes which they had expected from us.
It was five days activity within Thai and Malaysian Buddhist people and we able to knew closely the Buddhism in that area. Although the Buddhism in Malaysia is still exit truly in old formation both Mahayanist and Tharavdin (old sect of Buddhism) but they are mostly influence by the local and the traditional believes which has been passing through generation to generation as it is in Thai Buddhism. The protection from the external factors rather than internal was mostly noticeable thing in both cultural (Thai and Malay) like “Amulets”. In Buddhist culture worshiping amulets or wearing them to prevent from coming danger is common, it is individual believe. In-fact the most important things which teaches by the all religions like “to be a good person’ is always there. Generosity, loving-kindness, compassion, morality is commonly known by all.
Within short time we able to know many things regarding culture, tradition and the friendly relationship between monks and lay people. That was one of the beautiful tour in our life with venerable Chatchai Wilailak, who is the former graduated student of Mahapanya Vidayalaia, he has been always generous to MPV students and staffs. Thanks to temple abbot Ven. Liang Pemaseelo of Wat Siribunyamaggarama, without his kind support we wouldn’t be able to gather necessary information.
